Gifts Given

Now everyone has their presents I thought I would show you some of the presents I made this year. First are these mudcakes in a mug. I made these for the girls at quilting and also some neat little needle case holders in matching fabrics.

For one of my swaps I sent to my partner Simona in Croatia a sewing pouch and a little Christmas decoration for her tree.

This is another gift for Razzy in my Friends in Stitching group.
Embroidered bag and some lavender shoe stuffers.

For my partner Annette in America I also made a sewing pouch.

I really loved these, there are lots of pockets and needle cases inside.

I had sooo much fun making Christmas gifts this year and I was very lucky
to have met so many wonderful people, all over the world.
Thank you to all my swap partners and friends and I really hope
you liked what I made for you.

Christmas Gifts

I Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!! Christmas lasted 2 days for our family, as we celebrated on Christmas day with my husbands family and on Boxing Day with my family. So I am exhausted today!!! I wanted to share with you the wonderful gifts I received in the Christmas Swaps I was in. Firstly in my on line swap, I received from Helen.....

This beautifully made heart pincushion and needle case. I absolutely love it. Helen does the most perfect stitching ever and I am always very jealous of her embroidery skills. I consider myself very lucky to now be the owner of this masterpiece!! It is very beautiful, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You know me very well Helen xx

I was also in Chooky Blues Secret Santa swap and my partner Emily has sent me this gorgeous table runner. Thank you Emily!!! The photos don't do it justice, but the fabrics and colours are really lovely. It is still raining today, and although it's not good for taking photos, we are loving every drop we are receiving. The tanks and dam are full, so I am not complaining. Thanks again Emily for being my partner and I also love the cute little snowman decoration you made. I think he may stay around for a bit longer than Christmas!!

I was also in Jo and Fionas advent swap. My partner Annette sent me lots of wonderful presents that I opened each day, then on Christmas Day I opened the 'big one'. How cute are these placemats and serviettes? Once again, the photo doesn't do the colours justice, but the fabrics are beautiful.

They have been beautifully made and I just love them!! Thank you so much Annette - I have loved everything I received from you and so glad you were my partner.

Well my house looks like a bomb has hit it.
I have a million things to do, but I don't feel like doing any of them!!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a big "thank you" to all my blogging friends who made this Christmas very special to me.
I look forward to keeping in touch with you all in the new year.

Treasured Photos

I just had to share these photos with you. My Nanna loves photos and whilst visiting her the other day the drawer full of old photos came out again.... not that I mind....I love all these old photos and I've been through them many times.
But this day we found a few that I hadn't seen before.
The above photo is of her when she was 16 and at her Deb ball. Her mother, my Great Grandmother, was a dressmaker and made her beautiful dress out of embossed satin. She had her hair done that day - and she hated it!!
But the next photo is my absolute favourite. I think it's because she's laughing!!
Most photos taken around this time are quite formal and usually the people in the photos are serious.

In this photo my Nan is wearing her brother Herbs WWII fighter pilots uniform. That's why it's a little big on her!!!! I don't know what possessed her to put it on, but it sure made her laugh.
I'm so glad we found this photo. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
Thanks for stopping by on my little trip down Memory Lane.
Now back to the Christmas chaos!! ha ha

Gifts from the Heart

These are some more of the gorgeous advent swap presents I have received from my partner Annette in America. She must know I love bags as there is the sweetest little handmade bag in there, as well as a great bag pattern that I can't wait to make. Some more gorgeous buttons, ribbon, lace, some notebooks and a cute little cotton reel pincushion. Oh and some yummy apple and cinnamon lip balm!!! Thank you so much Annette... I am loving them all.

I found this great tutorial that shows you how to make paper bows to top off your presents here.. They are super easy and quick to make. I found using my guillotine made it even quicker.

Gives the present a bit more pizazz I think!!

I also found this great idea here for making wine bottle bags with fabric tags. I've had these fabrics for ages and I love the one with all the wine labels on it... perfect for these bags. Another super quick and easy gift.

I also had to share with you this gorgeous present I received from my wonderful friend Tereasa. I have been admiring a quilt in her shop that she has made using a gorgeous range of Christmas fabric with cardinals on it. Anyone who knows me, knows I love cardinals and I have been looking at it and drooling over it for some time now. This present, when unwrapped, has all the fabrics in it required to make the same quilt... even enough fabric for the backing!!! I was over the moon. Thank you so much Tereasa for such a thoughtful, beautiful present. I can't wait to start it and it will mean so much to me. I love it already!!!

I was off to visit my bloggy friend Julie this week and heard she was making some gingerbread for her son. I told her to please save one piece for me... This is what greeted me when I popped in!!!!!

and this is what was inside (and I have to admit there are quite a few missing when I took this photo!!!) Thank you so much Julie, they are delicious and you made my day!!!

I also have another friend Virginia (blogless I'm afraid) who I share the love of all things French with. We both have sent each other presents this week and the french/Paris theme was very evident. Above is the gorgeous French notebook she sent me, along with a beautifully made little sewing bag. Thank you so much Virginia... it was a lovely surprise.

This is what I found on Etsy and sent to Virginia. It's called the 'I love Paris' necklace. I couldn't resist it for her.
Sorry about the long blog... but I just had to show you all the wonderful things being received here.
Hope everyone is coasting along nicely with all the Christmas rush. I can't believe Christmas is just next week.... it really feels like time is speeding up now.
Have a great day everyone,
Teresa xx

Girls Day Out

Another block finished.
Amongst all the Christmas chaos I am still stitching this quilt every Tuesday when I get together with my stitching girlfriends. Every Tuesday is my own Girls Day Out and I look forward to this day every week.
This is when I get to laugh, relax, laugh, stitch, laugh and catch up with the girls... and did I say laugh????
Today was no exception. Thanks girls for another great day... especially as the day didn't start out too well, luckily I had you all there to get me through it and get back on track.
Did I mention the food wasn't too bad either!!!!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week,
Teresa xx

Christmas Gifts

How gorgeous are these guys???? The wonderful Julie made these for me and I absolutely love them. She knows me very well and couldn't have made more perfect Christmas decorations.
So Prim and So Cute!!!

We got together again this week and this time we visited Tereasa's shop and made a few purchases (just goes without saying). Then we had lunch at the cafe next door. Thanks so much Julie for another fun day and I love love love my prim decorations.

These are a couple of paper pieced Santas I made after seeing them on this great site and you can find the pattern here. Very clever and quick to make - these guys are going around some wine bottle bags for gifts this Christmas.

I've also made these funky and very practical CD holders for my nieces. Both have their drivers licences and their own cars now... these holders fit over the sun visor and hold all their favourite CDs. I found the tutorial here and it was a breeze to make. I am loving these Amy Butler fabrics.

I think I might have to make one of these for myself. They're such a great idea - I really hope the girls like them.

It has been so hot here for most of the week and today was no exception. The heat literally sucks the energy out of you and makes it very uncomfortable. I've been doing a lot of sewing at night when it finally gets a little cooler.
I hope everyone is nearly ready for Christmas... not long to go now. I've just got a few more things to make and I think I am done.
One thing I definately want to make this year is a binder cover for all the wonderful Christmas recipes I've found so far. Let's see if I can get it done before Christmas!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend,
Teresa xx

Advent Swap and Christmas Gifts

These are just some of the gorgeous gifts I've opened so far in the Christmas Advent Swap. My wonderful partner Annette (in America) is spoiling me.. Amongst the goodies, was the lovely little handmade bag with some strawberry buttons inside, the heart pincushion with crochet lace around the edge, the purple button with 'imagine' across it, lace hearts, a beautiful tin with DMC threads inside, pretty pink and white check ribbon.... Thank you so much Annette, your gifts are so appreciated and loved!!
Above is an apron I made for a 'chooky' friend - Julie - (who I met through blog land) and is beautifully modelled by my son (who threatened me to not show above the shoulders ! ha ha)
I also painted this little guy for Julie as well. It was so nice to get out the paints as it's been quite some time. So lucky the paints hadn't dried out.

And I have finally finished some presents for Christmas. These dolphins are a Melly and Me pattern I found in the latest Homespun magazine. There are 3 new babies in our family this Christmas and this pattern was perfect for littlies.. no buttons!
I love these Amy Butler fabrics... and I have also used them in some other presents I've almost finished.. more pics to come.....
Hope everyone has a great week.... Enjoy the build up to Christmas,
Teresa xx
