Cardinal for Christmas

I've always loved Cardinals on Christmas things, fabric, postcards etc. so when I saw this guy in the latest Homespun magazine I just had to make him.
His name is Charlie Chirp and he was a lot of fun to make. There was a bit of everything in this guy, not just sewing, but painting as well... lucky my paints haven't dried up as it's been awhile. Stuffing him was a bit of a challenge!!!
And on the baking front, Sue got me onto this wonderful recipe site and these are the latest slices I've made :
Yummy, yummy Passionfruit slice and (kids favourite) Marshmallow slice. They were both so quick to make and so easy... my kind of cooking!!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Christmas Decorations and Rouenneries Pockets

Lucky me - I've received my Christmas Decoration from Sarah in the swap organised by Clare and Robyn . We had to make a handmade Christmas Decoration and a handmade card. Sarah sent me this lovely felted ball with 3 angels felted around it. There is also a little heart felted onto each angel and dangling beneath is a gold star. We had a bit of a laugh at how similar our cards were that we sent to each other...

We both used cut out holly and red buttons for the berries!! Great minds think alike!! This is my card that I sent to Sarah (above) and below is the decoration I made. Thanks Sarah for my decoration... I love handmade decorations for the tree xx

New fabric range - Rouenneries by French General for Moda.....

I've been playing witht the new Rouenneries fabric and making little satchels and pockets. Having a lot of fun too I might add. It's such beautiful fabric.. I love the linen look to it as well as the colours.

There's a bag that holds your ruler and rotary cutter in it, a pen and brush pocket, and a stationery holder. Lots of pockets to hold lots of bits and pieces... you know... all the important things~!

I am also working on a needlecase - hopefully I will have that to show you in the next post.
Hope you have all had a great day!

Photo Fun

I had so much fun today playing with some photos and some amazing techniques... and the best part - it was easy. I've used this site before, but they now have even more techniques you can add to your photos.
These photos were done using . You can turn photos into pop art, oil paintings, sketches... it's limitless.

The following photos were from another site - This is a new site a wonderful friend told me about.

I love the rubiks cube...

... and what a great idea for Christmas....

and who knew our picture was showing in the Museum???? There is soooo much more you can do.. and as you can see I had a lot of fun playing today.
Hope you have as much fun as I did altering your photos..
Take care,

Rainforest Lunch

Hi everyone, I just had to share some photos with you of our lunch this weekend. On Sunday we decided to go for a drive with no destination in mind. We drove through Mt Coot-tha and past all the television towers ( I haven't been past there since I was a kid!). Then we drove on through Mt Nebo to Mt Glorious. It was lovely and so much cooler than at home. We found this great little cafe in the rainforest.
I couldn't believe the trouble they went to with our meals.. Above is my sons burger with the works. Loving the old plate they used... it's a bunch of asparagus!!

The cafe was right in the rainforest... and the tables and chairs were gorgeous....
Unfortunately, though, after visiting relatives on Saturday and driving through the mountains on Sunday.... I didn't get a single thing done at home... so I guess I had better do 'some' housework today.. even though I'd rather do some stitching....
Hope everyone has a great day and enjoys whatever they are doing :)
Take care,
Teresa xx

What??? Another Bag????

I know, I know... but I just couldn't help myself. I have been wanting to make this bag for a while now.. I just had to find the beautiful beads, that I so carefully put away "somewhere safe"... This pattern is by the very talented Robyn, of Daisy Quilts and it's called Chris's Bag (she made it for her sister!!). This bag was meant to be... I've had the fabric for awhile and it's everything I love - vintage, french, roses. The beads I've had for ages and they matched... and then I found this
button on our day out on Melbourne Cup Day...It perfectly matched the fabric!!

It was a great pattern to follow with really clear instructions and it went together easily..I am actually thinking of making another one for my sister for Christmas. Maybe in funky fabric....hmmm now I'm thinking..
Hope everyone has a great weekend and finds some time to create!!

Lucky Lucky Me #2

Look at this absolutely beautiful table runner made by the very talented Robyn of Daisy Quilts.. And I WON it!!!!
Robyn designed and made this masterpiece and then very generously gave it to another generous soul, Julie, (of Bush Baby Jag) who was raising funds for Breast Cancer. In October, Julie's son (a nurse) held a Pink Ribbon Breakfast to raise funds and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. There was some absolutely fantastic prizes from not only Robyn, but Rosalie and Kaaren. I cannot belive how lucky I am to win this gorgeous table runner. The embroidery is perfect, the piecing is perfect, the colours are perfect.... can you tell how much I LOVE it!!!

It is taking pride of place on my dining room table, and I actually feel a little guilty... if I'd made it - I would have had a great deal of difficulty giving it up. Thank you so much Julie and Robyn from the bottom of my heart.

Lucky Lucky Me

Look what the postman delivered!!!! I couldn't believe it when I opened my parcel from my partner Caryn in the United States. This was the Stitchers Angel Swap organised by Helen Stubbings and this is the second parcel I've received!!! Caryn has made me a gorgeous organiser, complete with mini olfa mat and pens, which is perfect to take to classes. There's a little triangle bag, which I have seen before and love and inside was a cute little mitten for the Christmas tree and a Quilters pin from America.
Also in the parcel was this wall hanging with raggy edge roses on it. I LOVE it. I've always loved raggy edge quilts, and this is just gorgeous.

Thank you so much Caryn. I absolutely love everything that you've made and sent to me. I am so lucky I was your partner and I will treasure it all. I can't wait to put the little mitten up on the tree this Christmas. A BIG "Thank You" also to Helen for organising this wonderful swap.

On another note, Jenny of Elephantz has this wonderful recipe on her blog for rock cakes....I haven't made these since Home Ec at High School. Thanks Jenny they were delicious!! Unfortunately, even though the recipe made heaps, they only lasted 2 days!!
Come back tomorrow... I JUST have to show you what I won!!! I will post again tomorrow and show you something beautiful that I was very lucky to win.
Hope you are all having a great week.

A Day Out and Awards Night

Well I hope everyone had a lovely Melbourne Cup Day.. I was very lucky enough to get together with the girls and have a day out. With Tereasa working everyday - a day out for the four of us together is very rare. Our lovely chauffeur (Helen!!) drove us around to a few quilting shops and then off to lunch at a little cafe at Shorncliffe. Very nice!! Good food, great ocean views, lovely ocean breeze, lots of laughs and wonderful company!!!

These are my partners in crime - Helen, Laurel and Tereasa. Best friends in the world!! Thanks for a great day guys - I had the best day.
Now I have little boasting to do:
Last night was Sports Award night at my sons high school and I am very proud to say that he won 4 awards..

Everyone had to dress up and this is only the second time I have seen him in a tie!!

This is him this morning with his 4 medals. Very proud mum and it was a fantastic night.
Hope everyone has a great day and thanks for stopping by,
Teresa xx

Snowman Needs Some Snow...

I have been working on this snowman (I'm ashamed to say) for a couple of years now and I am very pleased he is going to see this Christmas. He is an advent calendar with the countdown embroidered on his body.
Unfortunately he is supposed to have some fake snow on his hat, arms and nose but I have been unable to get any. So he is a really feeling this Aussie heat at the moment.

I have to make some pins to put into him for the count down as well. (Of course they need some snow on them too.....)

I may have to come up with another idea for the snow, hmmmmm.....

And of course I just had to make another bag... I really love this new fabric range called Authentic. I think that's the scrapbooker coming out in me.. It's a really large market tote bag so it should be perfect for the next market day..
Hope everyone has a good week and if you are in Australia - hope you have a win tomorrow on the Melbourne Cup. I am going out with the girls - but like a true crafter - won't be going to a 'Cup' party - we're going quilt shop shopping!!! and of course some yummy lunch.
Thanks for stopping by
Teresa xx
