Tuesdays Treasures & a Surprise Visit

Today, for my treasure, I thought I would love to show you this little bag of mine. It has to be at least 30 years old, and even I'm surprised at how well it has lasted. My Grandmother bought it for me from one of her trips to Greece when I was in my early teens. She traveled quite a bit, and she would always bring something special home from her travels for us kids.
The embroidery on it is perfect and I just love the colours. It is just big enough for your keys, phone and a small wallet!!!
I am off to Melody's to see who else is playing along today in Tuesdays Treasures.Link
Today was also stitching day with the girls. It was Laurels birthday today and she scored not one, but two cakes.... so we helped her eat them!
The highlight of today though, was a surprise visit from these two lovelies!!!!
None of us knew Lynda and Diann were "popping in" on us and it was a WONDERFUL surprise. They even brought their stitching along to join us for the day.

Oh it was so good to see you today and to catch up. I'm still smiling!
Now I must skip over to Melodys and try and catch up with reading everyone's blogs and replying to my emails!!! Where does the time go and how come I am always trying to catch up???
Hope you have all had a great day!

Some Finishes with a French Flavour

I am so in love with my new cushion. This is the pattern and fabric I bought from Faerires in My Garden and I love the way it turned out.
The cushion is quite big, in fact it's only a little smaller than your regular pillow. I think it's the fabric, though, that I really fell in love with.
The original pattern called for a large black tassel to hang from the front flap... but I had something even fancier!!!
I bought this glass slide charm a while back and it is quite heavy... perfect for holding the flap shut on the cushion. The slide has a lovely picture of the Eiffel Tower on the front and has tiny flecks of glitter inside.
The other side is just as lovely. It was a lovely, well put together pattern, so I'm keen to make another one....

This is squeaky "helping" me with my other finish this month.....
This is another steering wheel cover for a friend of mine's birthday.
More gorgeous french inspired fabric!!!
I have also finished this months blocks for the Tis the Season BOM.

This is such a fun quilt with lovely little stitcheries.
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Teddy Bears Picnic

I am playing along with Melody again today and we are joining the picnic.
This weeks teddies going to the picnic are......
My first ever Panda.
My uncle gave me this little bear years ago and he is the reason I fell in love with teddy bears in the first place. It was quite a surprise to get a little bear for a birthday present as I was in my 30's... but I absolutely loved him... my uncle knows me well!!!
After I received him, I started collecting bears and then went to my first ever bear making class... the rest is history.
The other little bear is one I made in lemon and green mohair. He is meant to look like he's wearing a jumper and a little knitted scarf completes his winter wardrobe.
We're bringing some yummy rock cakes to the picnic and it is a glorious day here today!
Perfect for a picnic!!!
Have a great day

Tuesdays Treasures

As some of you are aware, my Nanna passed away January last year. My mum has been staying in my Nan's yard, parked in her bus, for the last 5 months, soon to be heading off again. There are a few pieces of my Nan's furniture still at the house and this past weekend, I was very lucky to be given a few pieces. One of them is this little cupboard.
I don't know what it is about the cupboard, but I just love it. Years ago it was used in the bathroom until my Nan had a proper sink and cupboard installed. I am thinking of repainting it, but a part of me screams "No... don't change a thing!"... so now I'm not sure if I will....
I love the drawers at the top, I'm thinking this cupboard would be great in my sewing room, the drawers filled with reels of cottons and scissors and pins....
I will, however, have a lot of fun with what I put on top of it, and inside it as well. I am going over to Melodys to see who else has some treasures to share today.....
Also, being Tuesday, was stitching day with the girls. I love Tuesdays!!!
This is a photo of Mary, one of my fellow stitchers. She never seems to get caught in any of my photos of our stitching days.. so today I wanted to share a photo of her and her gorgeous quilt she is making.
This is her quilt she is currently working on... Lynette Anderson's "Crazy Christmas".
There is so much work in this quilt... needle turn applique, embroidery and crazy patchwork.
Her blocks are just gorgeous and I can't wait to see it all put together.
I told Mary she was going to be my "treasure" today ha ha!!!
Hope you are all having a great week....

What Makes Me ευτυχισμένος? (happy?)

Yassou.....It's Paniyiri the Greek Festival

Yesterday we went to the annual Greek Festival, Paniyiri, in the city. It was wonderful. It's been a few years since I've been, and I can't get over how many people were there. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Festival. Lots of dancing and music......
I love everything Greek.... the people, Greek music, Greek dancing and (without a doubt)... Greek food! The choice was incredible... heaps and heaps of food stalls full of yummy Greek dishes to whet the appetite.

We had lamb, tzatziki, haloumi cheese, Greek salad, octopus and for desert......
Greek honey puffs... mmmmm..... sooooo goood!!!

A photo of me and my favourite "Greek"....
The boys had other things on... so we sent them lots of photos of us eating our goodies to show them what they were missing. It was a great day. I ate so much, but it was worth it!!!
This beautiful, misty morning also is making me happy. Gorgeous scenes as I drove Jack to school today.
The colours of Autumn so beautiful in the mist.
Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!!!
