This is the second part of Melodys Penny Rug BOM. Love the button tree! I am really enjoying her tutorials and watching my penny rug grow.....
Part 3 has a little red school house complete with school bell.
So far one side is complete and I've turned the corner and I'm almost at the next corner! It's a real little village and coming along nicely. This month has some cute little bird houses to sew on... so I'd better get that done before next months reveal.
I have also finished another two blocks in "My Favourite Things" quilt...
:Hot chocolate ...mmmmmm and.....
A good book to read!!!! - definitely a favourite of mine.
Today is very overcast and rainy..... perfect stitching weather!
Hope you are doing something you love today!

This is our local Anzac Memorial today.
I wasn't sure if my Dad was going to be able to march today, as he is on a trip to Darwin and presently in Mt. Isa at the moment.
Maggie has just sent me this wonderful photo of my Dad this morning... just before he marched.
Wish I'd been there to see him, but getting this photo sent to me means so much as well.

I have wanted to share this gorgeous antique quilt in Melody's Tuesday Treasures for some time now...
But it has been packed away with some of my other precious quilts...until this past weekend when I got the chance to dig them out again and let them breathe!
I've spoken of my wonderful friend Virginia (no blog - unfortunately!) many times including how she used to have an antique quilt business and would find these beautiful quilts from Australia and America and sell them.
A few years back, for my Anniversary, my husbands present was for me to choose one of the antique quilts from Virginia's collection.
I couldn't take my eyes off this gorgeous yo yo quilt.
I just loved how unusual it was and how much work had gone into the quilt.....
Entirely made by hand and using so many wonderful fabrics from that era..
I'm guessing from the amount of brights, purples and oranges in the quilt, that it is possibly from the 1970's.
I love the thoughtful gift from my husband and it is definitely a treasure to me.
I am going to see who else is sharing their treasures today over at Melody's.
Have a great Tuesday!!!

Making me happy this week is ...... colour!!!
When I looked back over my recent photos on my phone, I instantly noticed all the gorgeous colours!!
I am loving all the bright, happy colours.
This months photo challenge has really made me look at how I take photos and my photo subjects so much more differently.
Also making me happy are our local markets.
Wonderful stalls full of hand made and home made goodies...
Gourmet breads, cheeses and olives....
Fresh local produce....
Antiques and collectibles....
and something else that makes me happy.... scarves!!!
I really should live somewhere colder so I can wear them more often!
:Hope you're all having an AMAZING HAPPY Monday!!!

Last night was April's Friday Night Sew In with Heidi and Bobbi. This month we were asked if we would like to make a pillowcase for the Conkerr Cancer organisation. " Giving sick kids a reason to smile....one pillowcase at a time"
These are the two pillowcases I made. I wonder how many people all over the world were making pillowcases last night??
I also did a bit of stitching on my blocks and penny rug BOMs and I will have some more photos soon.
Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday!

I have a few finishes so far this month .... and they're all softies!!!! I made another dolphin for my cousins new little baby boy. I've made quite a few of these dolphins, and I was going to make something different for this little baby... but as he lives in north Queensland and near the ocean, I decided a dolphin was the right choice. It is one of Melly and Me designs and I just love this pattern. When you finish sewing it together and the dolphin transforms into the perfect shape... it's just wonderful. Such a great pattern.
I've also been making lots of little "Chubby Birds". This is a pattern from Jodie of Ric Rac fame. It's the cutest pattern and one of her new "creative card" patterns,
As soon as the pattern arrived I was going through my wool and felt and I ended up making 3 birds to start with. Now I want to make more. They're so much fun to make.
I made a little red breasted robin....
And a couple of "bluebirds of happiness", but one of those has flown the coop already.
I love their little, round, "chubby" bodies...
Now I really should stop being distracted by cute dolphins and birdies and get back to my quilt blocks, penny rug, quilts, stitcheries and the rest......
Have a great day!
Day 18 - Hair
Today I discovered just how hard it is to take a photo of the back of your head... by yourself!!!!!
Luckily my hubby woke up, just before I had to go to work, and took the photo.... He didn't even ask why I wanted a photo of the back of my head... He already knows I've lost the plot......

Making me happy this week is all the lovely French/Paris/Macaron goodness everywhere I look.
After enjoying my friends PERFECT macarons at Easter,
It also has lots of lovely things to make with a French flavour. Including this gorgeous quilt by Kris Meares of Tag Along Teddies.
I've bought some Rouenneries Deux fabric and hoping to make something with it very soon. I just love this range so much.
Then I found this lovely canvas that called out to me and wouldn't let me leave the shop without it.. What could I do???
Now to something that made me laugh out loud this week....
I picked up Jack from work and he had something he was given that he really wanted to take home with us. It did NOT fit in the car, and even after disassembling it .... it still took up most of the car and the boot.
What was it?????
It's Jacks new wash basket!!!!!!
I'm just hoping this means the washing will actually make it into the "basket" and we'll be able to see the carpet in his room again..
I can only hope!
Hope you have something making you happy and laughing out loud this week...
Have a good one!!!
