Red Brolly Swap

My on-line group Friends in Stitching have just had our first swap of the year. This swap was a Bronwyn Hayes/Red Brolly swap. My present went to my swap partner Sue, who requested something personal this swap... Perfect.... I really loved this apron pattern, and hoped I could make one for myself as well.
That didn't happen of course, as it took a bit longer to make than I thought it would...
I chose to make the applique version of the apron for Sue.
I just love Bronwyns girls!!!!
Well, can you imagine my surprise when I opened my present from my swap partner,  Peg???
Lucky, lucky me.... Peg made the apron for me!!!!
Peg made the stitchery version and I just love it... The colours and fabrics are gorgeous and the stitchery of the girls is just perfect.
Lovely Peg added a couple of other things to my present and absolutely spoiled me...
I just love the journal and journal cover in these gorgeous fabrics...
and the bookmark is just so cute.
Thank you so much Peg... I am really thrilled to bits with my presents.
This was another wonderful swap with this great group of friends...
Thanks so much!
Hope you are having a beaut weekend!

My Favourite Things Quilt

My Favourite Things Quilt is slowly coming together. I have 4 more blocks finished.
This one ("holidays") took me quite a while to finish because of the teeny, tiny travel labels.
Ice cream......
 And of course.... chocolates!!!!!!
Hope you are having a great week!!

What Makes Me Happy 26.3.2012

Making me happy this week is spending 3 days at the Quilters Rest, quilt retreat in Kingaroy.
This is such a wonderful place to go to and I had a ball.
I got to spend that time with my wonderful friends Laurel, and Helen and
Jenny, who I haven't seen since last year, so it was great to see her and share some laughs. I also met 2 new ladies, Leanne and Vicki. We all got on so well, it felt like we'd known each other for years.
We are surrounded by nothing but peace and quite, and beautiful countryside...
the only thing we heard for 3 days (besides laughing and chatting) were the cows!!!
The food, as always, was absolutely delicious...
I also managed to get lots of sewing done. This is a quilt top I cut out and put together..
The fabrics are beautiful in it. I am so pleased to get it to this stage...
I also took along a few smaller projects which I finished on the weekend.. This is a little Hatched and Patched wool pincushion.. Just need to fill it up..
A wrist pincushion (one of Natalie Birds free patterns)
I finished this cute little stitchery from a pattern I found in a Homespun Magazine....
I also had this little purse to make.. It has a very fiddly slide clasp and magnet closure. Thanks to Helen I got this finished, as it had me baffled for quite some time!!!
This block is the first in Raspberry Rabbits free BOM.. I got this finished and a good start on the second block.
I am so pleased with what I finished this weekend.

This weekend was just wonderful, and sharing it with these friends of mine made it even more special. These weekends are precious!!!!
Hope you have a HAPPY MONDAY everyone!!!

Tuesday Treasures

I am joining Melodys Tuesday Treasures again this week...My treasure today is this lovely little photo album that my stitching buddy Helen made for me for Christmas 2006. She decorated it beautifully with colours, fabrics and charms perfect for someone who loves Vintage  things - Me!!!!
Inside she decorated and scrapbooked lots of pages and photos ... all to do with my wonderful Tuesday Stitching girls and things we have done together over the years. Every now and then, Helen makes me another page or 2, or 3 to add to my album. It's such a brilliant idea and full of wonderful memories. I love it so much and it means so much to me.
It was very hard to choose my favourite photo from the album, but this one always makes me laugh when I look at it. This is Mary and I mucking around with those lollies that look like teeth!!! Yes, we've gone back to age 5!!!! he he...
It's lovely to look back and see how much we've done together, how much we've changed, all the different hair styles, all the wonderful memories of this amazing bunch of women .... my best friends!!!
It is a true treasure to me.
If you would like to see more treasures, or share a treasure of your own, pop over to Melodys here!
Have a great week.

What Makes Me Happy 19.3.2012

Making me happy this week is all about something that happened a few weeks ago... My birthday!
My birthday isn't something I usually tell anyone about, or make any sort of fuss over... To me, it's just another day. This year, though, there were a few sneaky people who found out (somehow!!!!) and a few friends and family members who really made this day very special for me. I just couldn't let it slide by without doing a post on what these people mean to me, and how thoughtful and generous their gifts were...
First thing on the morning of my birthday, my youngest son took me out for breakfast and gave me this gorgeous little panda (with Haigh chocolates) that he got for me on our trip to Adelaide.
My Mum sent me this gorgeous parcel of goodies... a beautiful little teddy full of bling! and the most beautifully crocheted thimble and needle case... Yep that little crochet doiley with pearls and charms is the most exquisite needle case and how lovely is the thimble....
The detail on them is amazing. She always finds the most beautiful little treasures.
My lovely blogging friend Wendy sent me these beautiful fabrics, wooden buttons and thread. I love the colours of the fabrics and I've already started using them on an upcoming quilt!
This gorgeous present I received from another blogging friend Michelle... I have no idea how she found out it was my birthday! The lovely book of stitcheries is her new book of patterns and they are really gorgeous. Inside was also a beautiful antique doiley and the most gorgeous card.  I'm loving all these pretty pinks in my birthday presents this year!
Now this was really special.... my blogging friend Tatyana sent me these gorgeous hand made presents "just because"... not even knowing that they arrived on the day of my birthday.. The owl is so cute, beautiful thread and the most lovely old vintage brooch. .... I am very spoilt!
My on line group Friends in Stitching send each of us on our birthdays something special too. My partner was Sue and the theme this year for our birthday presents is "grow, cook, eat".
Sue sent me some really lovely presents. A beautiful Journal, pincushion and needle case.
This is the lovely stitchery on the front of the journal.
The cute little needle case..
On the back of the pincushion Sue stitched this great label so I will always remember this wonderful birthday swap. I just love all the gorgeous things she has made for me. Thanks Sue xx
Photo by Helen... thanks Helen xx
My stitching day with the girls was, and always is, very special on my birthday... Because I get to share that day with my best friend Tereasa (yep .... same name too!!!!) It's really nice to share our birthday celebrations together. The other girls really spoil us, and this year was no exception. Yummy cheesecake, chocolates and birthday cake...
Plus very special presents .... they know me so well!!!! Gorgeous fabrics and doileys, chocolates, vintage Paris tag, Body Shop goodies, smelly melts and some wonderful photos for my Stitching Girls Album (I will have to show you this in my next Tuesday Treasures.....)
The Paris/French theme was also very evident this birthday... How lovely is this wrapping paper? I opened it very, very carefully. It was from my lovely friend Virginia (who needs to start her blog!!!) and inside was a terrific book on making...books! I can't wait to try some of the books in this..
As you can see Paris was also evident in the bags and presents... The DVD "Midnight in Paris" was from my brother and I really enjoyed watching it... I wanted to step right into the TV actually!
I received lots of phone calls from family and friends and a very special call from James in London was just what I needed. The lovely cake (first photo) was a surprise when my neighbours asked me up for some afternoon tea...
My hubby, too, bought me some wonderful, badly-needed, comfortable bras!!! ha ha... he really outdid himself this year!!! I know he thinks they're only bras... but I needed them, and I love them!!!
I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many people who went out of their way to make this day so special.
I am so grateful and you will never know just how much this meant to me...
Thank you guys!!!!
Yes, another birthday done and dusted.... and the candles are blown out for another year!
Hope you are all having a very HAPPY MONDAY!!!

Friday Night Sew In with Heidi was another successful evening of sewing! This is such a great inspiration and motivation for me
This week I wanted to make a start on my blogging friend Jantines new pattern. It's a terrific sewing folder that holds all your sewing needs and you can take anywhere with you.
The above picture is about half way through the nights sewing...pockets made, outside cover pieced together and applique flowers ready to go...
And this is it finished!!! I just love it. It ends up about 10 x 12 inches (closed) and holds everything!!!
Inside... there are heaps and heaps of pockets (21 actually!!)... for pens, patterns, scissors, cotton reels, needles, etc. The pincushion can be attached and removed easily and there's a clever little idea that stops the needles going right through, if you've got the folder on your lap. Also a nifty little ring for your embroidery threads.
The only thing I haven't finished on my folder, is there is a zip that goes all the way around the outside edge, so it closes up perfectly. The zips on my shopping list and then it will be totally finished.
I am totally wrapped with my new folder and the instructions were very, very clever and easy to understand. I had no problem putting it together. (Well done Jantine!!! - it's awesome!!!)
Thanks so much to Heidi for hosting the FNSI again.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
