Tuesday Fun with the Stitching (?) Girls....

Last Tuesday was another fun day stitching with the girls... well we were stitching at one point. The lovely Sandi took this photo... catching us out playing on our phones... In fact the message that the two of us on the left were receiving was this.....
Which was being to sent to us from Helen... the one on the right!!!
Oh! naughty! But then what was Sandi doing instead of stitching....
Yep, playing on the computer! He He He....
Lots of laughs (as always) and we did actually get some stitching done...
I have finished another block of Raspberry Rabbits BOM. Another 2 are all ready with the applique.. waiting to be stitched.
We also had some little visitors chirping away in the corner. Sandi has 6 little chicks only a day old and to keep them safe from the cold nights they are enjoying a bit of warmth inside for the time being.
Mumma hen is doing a mighty job and I just love this photo of the little chick on her back.
Another great day together with the girls!

What Makes Me Happy 27.8.12

As usual... lots of things!
It's feeling very summery here today. I feel as though we are going to miss out on Spring altogether and just go straight into Summer. And although I am a lover of winter (well that would be a lover of Queensland winter!!) it is always nice for the change in seasons to come, You need a bit of variety hey?
The last few days have been around the 22 to 24 degrees and have been just lovely. My legs even got to see the sun today... first time in ages!
Me and my Mum
As this month is huge in my family for birthdays, my Mum has been putting off leaving so as to see everyone one more time, before she hit the road traveling again. I've been very lucky to see so much of her this year... I think I've seen her more this year than I have in the whole 9 years of her traveling.
Mum, Frank and my youngest son, Jack
Last week we got to catch up for lunch and it was wonderful as it was just 2 days before her own birthday. And as usual, we had to say :"goodbye:" again and it is always hard.
Just had to add a pic of our lunch...rump steak and mushroom sauce!
Another thing making me happy, is fresh, beautiful roses from my hubby. I love it when he has to go to the Gold Coast and passes the little rose farm on his way.... Aren't they just beautiful?
My awesome speakers make me happy tooooo!
Today is my day off... which means loads of housework to do. I don't know why, but listening to my favourite music (up loud) and singing and dancing along, always seems to make the housework less of a chore. I just love Guy Sebastians new single "Battle Scars"
I have been playing a great assortment of music today, including the Black Keys, One Republic and Fun. Love, love, love music. When the music is up loud, my cat meows along and it's hilarious. It really is like she's singing along... Why does she do that? It drives my son insane ha ha!!!
The washing got done, the house is (sort of) clean, the kitchen is back to normal...all is right in the household once again... and I enjoyed the sing and dance along as I went.
On another note... I want to send a shout out to all our local firies!!! Last week we had a pretty scary fire at the end of our street. It took off and escalated so quickly. The fire brigade was there before you knew it and they quickly took control. I can't believe how fast the fire traveled up the road. It is very dry here and it's been ages since we've had a real good dose of rain. This makes me think the summer/fire season is going to be pretty bad this year. Our firemen and women do a wonderful job and I am so grateful for them. Huge "Thank You" to you all.
Well I hope you are all having a wonderful, Happy Monday...
What's making you happy today????
Is it family? Warm weather? Just because roses? Singing and dancing? Being with the ones you love? Being grateful for what we have? or all of the above???
Have a good one...

What Makes Me Happy 16.8.12

Making me happy this week is going to our annual Brisbane Show... The Royal Queensland Agricultural Show.... fondly known as The Ekka!!!
There is so much to see and do there, and I love to soak it all up.
We do it all....We start off every year doing the Adventure Trail which is a great way to discover new places at the Ekka that you wouldn't normally go to. It takes you around the whole show with lots of lovely food to try and other freebies to collect as well.
A huge favourite is the animal nursery.. I could spend hours here.
As well as the nursery, there are the animal pavilions and I just love checking out the dogs.
There is also the wonderful cakes, paintings, crafts, photography and artworks to see.
And the quilts never disappoint. I was thrilled to see this Dear Jane quilt there.
Love getting up close and seeing the detail and the quilting.
Of course there is always the rides, showbags and sideshow alley.....
 Full of colour and noise.
Then there's the food.... and the strawberry ice creams were just as good as I remember. They are so delicious.
To top it off is the ring events in the evening. We always get a good seat just before they start... one of us takes off to get some dinner (this year it was steak sandwiches and chips)... then we sit back and enjoy the show. Of course the BEST part is the fireworks. This year they went for twice as long and I am like a little kid when there is fireworks.. It was wonderful.
I have been going to the show for as long as I can remember and it never disappoints. It really makes you feel like a kid again and I have so many fond memories of the show from over the years.
Ahhhh... that's the show over again for another year.
It was so much fun.
Hope you're having a wonderful Happy Monday!

I couldn't get the new Tilda magazine at any of my local news agents, so when I finally did find it (miles away!) I couldn't resist buying it. I was really happy with it. It's full of lovely projects and gorgeous photos and inspiration. The little purse came with everything you need and took no time at all to make. Very happy! I love the doll pattern it comes with too.
We. I'm off for the day....somewhere where I will feel like a strawberry ice creams ....find some quilts, and lots of animals a show bag, or two....ride the ferris wheel and see some fireworks!! Any idea???
Have a great day!!

Tuesday Fun

Lately our Tuesday Stitching days have had a theme...
"Turtle Tuesday" a couple of weeks ago.... Angel Tuesday last week... and this week it was Christmas Pudding Tuesday.
This is Sandi...with a picture of the pudding we're all making. After a few problems with the pattern she decided to turn it into a hat! Yeah... another hysterical, fun day with the girls today.
What a great idea was this? Because it was Pudding Tuesday, Sandi made up plates of little puddings (mini chocolate muffins) with custard and strawberries.. Delicious!!!
Playing with little mini well as stitching...
But I did finish something today... and it was a pudding of sorts. A quick, easy Christmas decoration. I have more work to do on my larger pudding, but I want it to look more realistic. I hope to show you soon what I come up with....
My photo challenge today was "Arrow" so when I got home later this afternoon Jack and I decided to get the bow and arrows out... To start with for a photo... and then the competition began ha ha..
We both love archery and a couple of hours later we were still going....
Jack setting up the target
Let the games begin.... ha ha....
As usual, Jack was on fire...
Definitely time to get a new target too!!!!
We had a ball.... this photography challenge always ends up being loads of fun!
Happy Tuesday!!!!!
Hope you had a terrific day.

Day 8- Glasses
I brought these glasses all the way home from a Beer and Music festival we went to in Stuttgart, Germany.
Day 9 - Messy
That would be my notice board!
Day 10 - Ring.
My Mum gave me this ring. It's about 50 years old and still has the original display box it was bought in. It's Mums birthstone...Peridot and one of the first pieces of jewellery she bought herself when she worked in a jewellery store in Redcliffe. I think it may have even been her first job.  I just love it.
Have a great week!!!
