Happy Monday!

My photo challenge today (yep I'm still doing this - It's been over a year now!) was "I wore this today". I took a photo of my gorgeous little bracelet that Tatyana made me for my birthday. It's the loveliest little tape with sewing images on it, carefully embroidered along the edge and with the sweetest little Eiffel Tower charm.
I was very spoilt with lots of other goodies too - some washi tape, beautiful fabric and threads, a sweet little frame, French serviettes and a cute little wooden owl. I just love them all. Thanks so much Tatyana for the gorgeous parcel of lovelies!
A trip out to the auto shop for my husband today turned from a mundane trip to a great one when I found a newsagent that had, not one, but two issues of Mollie Makes (very, very hard to find where I live). I also picked up the loveliest white cotton sheet with wide lace edging for $3 at a thrift shop. Definitely worth driving all the way to pick up some car parts for him!!!
I'm off to work but I'll be taking the magazines to read in my tea break!

Hope you're having a lovely, Happy Monday!

Trying Something New.....

My eldest son came over for the weekend and he always loves to cook and try something new. He decided to try this wonderful Jamie Oliver recipe....Steak, Guinness and Cheese Pie. Sounded delicious and knowing James was going to do the cooking... I thought I could sit back and watch the magic!
Well.... things didn't quite work out the way I thought they would....
James ended up working on his car with his dad all weekend ... so the cooking was left up to me.
I have to say I am very chuffed with myself and the pies were delicious. No simple Jamie Oliver 15 or even 30 minute recipe here... more like a few hours! But definitely worth it and lots of fun in the process. What I also loved was that I got to use my Nanna's gorgeous old enamel pie tins...... perfect!
The recipe is off the internet (adapted from his book "Jamie at Home") and you'll find it HERE if you want to try it yourself!
Have a great week!

A Trip To toowoomba

Last week I had the most wonderful day with these two gorgeous friends... Fiona and Michelle.
Michelle drove us up the mountain (Toowoomba) to meet up with Fiona and spend a glorious day doing what we love... catching up with friends, visting beautiful shops, having delicious lunches and coffees... You couldn't have asked for a better day.
I have never been to Highfields before, so I was in for a wonderful treat. The Quilters Angel was a definite highlight for me... what a great shop... I could have spent hours in there. I was very good though and only bought a few fabrics for next months SAL project!
It was full of all the things I love..  ha ha
There was also this gorgeous home decor shop where I parted with a bit more money....Truly couldn't help myself. Would have loved that chair, but couldn't bring myself to look at the price tag!!
Who needs to buy anything, though, when you receive presents like this!!!
Honestly, it was like my birthday again. Fiona made this gorgeous fabric heart and gave me this WONDERFUL mug (I'll show you the back in a minute), plus solid lotion and chocolate!!! Michelle spoilt me too with beautiful fabrics, Paris notes and the most beautiful little crocheted thimble holder (and more chocolate ha ha!!!) Talk about spoilt rotten. Thanks so much you two!!!
Okay... so this is the back of the mug.. Isn't it just the greatest? I love it!
We also visited the German Cuckoo clock shop and a wonderful Danish Floral and Bead shop where we had a really delicious lunch. I had spinach and feta muffin with homemade capsicum chutney and sour cream. It was really good.

 What a wonderful day.
Thank you so much Fiona and Michelle for all the laughter and beautiful friendship. Can't wait to do this all again!!!

April's Sitch-A-Long Project.... finished!

This months project was from Natalie Birds Christmas book "Tis the Season".
Its a cute little wall hanging and was a lot of fun to stitch and put together.
I love her cute stitcheries and it was hard to choose from the 13 designs just 3 to use.

Nice to have a Christmas project already under my belt!
I love looking through everyone's finishes this month. It's hard to believe how different they look when using different colours and fabrics. They all look wonderful.
On to next months project... I can't wait to do this one.... I just love it......
This years SAL is proving to be sooooo much fun Chooky!! Thanks for the motivation!
Have a great weekend!

365 Gratefuls

I am so thrilled to bits to receive my blog book! This one is a little different to my other blog books over the past few years. This is my blog that I did last year and I called it My Gratitude Journal. Every day for the whole year I posted a photo and a short post on what I was grateful for that day. I never missed a day and now I have this wonderful book full of everything I am truly thankful for. I just love going through it and it is very uplifting and happy! I'm sure there are going to be times when I'm feeling down and "blue" when this book is going to be just what I need to help get me through.
While I was building up this blog I got in touch with Hailey Bartholomew who was my original inspiration in doing this book over 8 years ago. She and her husband were also putting together a (real!!) book called "365 Gratefuls". They were wanting people from all over the world to also contribute to the book and asked me if I'd like to add a photo and story to their book. I did and I wasn't sure if it would make it to the book... but make it ... it did....
The book has just been released and is the most wonderful little book full of uplifting, amazing stories and photos from Hailey and lots of other people from all over the world.
I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful project and also completely over the moon to see my story and photo inside. Thrilled to bits ha ha!!
I definitely recommend this book .... it is simply beautiful and inspiring.
Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Natalie Bird Swap.... Sent

These are the swap gifts I sent to my partner, Susan, in my Friends in Stitching Swap.
The theme of the swap was "Natalie Bird" and I've used two of her designs. ( The above photo is thanks to Susan, as I forgot to take a photo of the mug rug.)
My partner told me in the beginning that she didn't have a block keeper or a mug rug... so I was very happy, as I knew what I was making straight away and could get a quick start on it.
This is a close up of the little Natalie Bird stitchery on the mug rug.
I used another of Natalie Birds appliques and stitcheries on the block keeper (both are from her new book "Red Home"). French general fabrics for both projects as well.
I really enjoyed this swap.. working with lovely patterns and gorgeous fabrics! As well as receiving some beautiful gifts from my partner (previous post).
Another great, fun swap with this wonderful group of friends.

Natalie Bird Swap... Received

My on-line group, Friends in Stitching, have just had their first swap for the year and it was a Natalie Bird Swap. I was very lucky to have the lovely Sue making for me. Sue has been my partner before and I always love what she makes for me. We have very similar tastes and she always does a beautiful job and chooses gorgeous fabrics.
This swap was no exception. I adore the little mini quilt. The embroidery on it is just perfect and the colours and fabrics are exactly what I love. It is already up on my wall and I just LOVE it.
Isn't the quote lovely too?
There was also this oh-so sweet little pincushion. Way too cute to stick pins into!!!
I am so happy with what I received... thank you so much Sue.

I will be back to show you what I sent to my partner... after I get the okay from her to "pinch" one of her photos as.... Can you believe it???... I forgot to take a photo of one of the items I made!! That is very UNLIKE me!!!
Hope you're having a lovely Sunday afternoon...

Woolloongabba Antiques Store

I have heard so much about Woolloongabba Antiques store, but up until today, I have never been.
I think it is such a wonderful place and I can't wait to go again (already!!). Now that James is living so close to the city and to Woolloongabba, we couldn't resist a trip up the road.

There is even an old theatre set up inside with old silent movies running non stop.

So many wonderful things to look at.... I'm sure if you walked around every day for a year you would still see something you missed.

I love that James loves old, retro and antique stuff like I do.

He just loved this old camera. I'ts just like the one my Nanna used.
Another wonderful day and lots of fun. Can't wait to do it again.

Picnics.....

It's been a long time since I've gone on a picnic. I don't know why when we live so close to the bush and beautiful creeks and scenery.
I spent a lovely day today with 3 girlfriends and enjoyed our picnic very much.
Great food, beautiful settings, friendly visitors, lots of wonderful chatting and laughing.
We really should do this more often....
Thanks for today - it was exactly what I needed.
