This Months Projects

This month has been full of lots of handmade goodies. I love handmade!
I think I would give any crafting a go - whatever it is. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of producing something with your own two hands.
One quick little project this month was this cute little rubbish bag. I got the fabric kit from Bayside Stitching on one of our road trips.
It is supposed to be for in the car but I have been using it next to the sewing machine and it's very, very handy.
I have finished and framed the stitchery we were given from Rosalie Quinlan in Melbourne. Thanks to Sandi who let me know about these square frames at Big W. The frame was exactly what I was looking for.
I have been working on this months Gossip in the Garden block. Lots of little pieced blocks in this one and some appliqué.
Just have to blanket stitch it.
As usual it has been lots of work but lots of fun as well.  I am really loving this quilt.
It was my turn to give a birthday present this month in my Friends in Stitching group.  My partner was the lovely Sarah from Patcheorks Plus. Our theme this year is a bag and it has to be in black and white. I made Sarah a lantern bag.
Keeping with the black and white theme I also made a little tissue holder and I found a set of nail files in the right colours too. I know Sarah loves scorched almonds!
It has also been the week of handmade slices! A friend tagged me with this Nutella cheesecake slice and Miche'le in NZ challenged me to make it. So of course I had to make it! The slice is absolutely delicious and one I will definitely be making again. I took the whole 16 slices to work as it was still in the process of setting. I came home with 3 slices so I think they liked it.
I also made my favourite, quick and tasty passionfruit slice. I love this one as it is such a quick but yummy recipe. No fuss and only one bowl and tray. The Nutella slice, being 3 layers, created quite a bit of washing up and took a lot longer to make. But it was really good!!!! Hmmm dilemmas!
Scrapbooking fun was also had this week with a card I needed with a "kitchen" theme. I made this little apron card and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
So lots of creating fun has been achieved.
Today I had a wonderful day with the girls  and my Tuesday stitching group. Lots of laughing and fun as well as some stitching, yummy treats to eat and a good read of the latest Daphne's Diary magazine. Love these girls to bits and I always enjoy our days together.
Hope you are having a great week!

Sunday Stitchers

We had such a great day yesterday at our May get together. Made even more special as it was the day we gave Tatyana her "Baby Shower" gifts.
Not long to go now before Tatyana becomes a mum and we are all so very happy and excited for her.
We put together a basket of baby gifts and necessities .....
I made a "nappy cake" and I think Tatyana liked it! Doesn't she look happy and well?
But best of all was this gorgeous quilt for the baby.
It was a joint effort but I have to mention our lovely member Cheryl, who contributed so much of the fabric and quilted it.
How gorgeous is the label?
The "Gossip" girls have finished another block this month.
However, Cheryl has a note for not finishing her block - and after all the work she did on Tatyana's quilt, nobody could possibly mind!
Birthday girls this month are Maria, Maree (our tireless leader) and Tatyana (she scored again ha ha!!)
My birthday fat quarters this month for the girls.
The table (before the girls got to their birthday baskets!)
Lots of Show and Tell this month (but, unfortunately,  I didn't get photos of it all!). Susan with one of her gorgeous premmy baby quilts. They are super cute and soft with flannelette on the back. Just lovely.
Marilyn with her beautiful bag (love that book fabric!!!). This was one of our projects from our Melbourne "Lets Grt Stitched" event.
Noela with her gorgeous quilt. Lovely Nancy Halvorsten fabrics in this!
De-Lightful De and her cute little elephant - I have seen so many of these little critters popping up on FB and Blogland lately and they are very cute (and tiny).
I have started the first block of Rosalie Quinlans "Scandinavian Rose" - yes I have and yes, I am in no hurry to finish it - no pressure,  just enjoying the stitching. I really love it though!!!!
What a fabulous day and another great chance to catch up with everyone and have lots of laughing and fun.
Thanks girls!!!
Hope you're having a great day!

Paper Piecing

This week Tuesdays Stitching was at Sandi's place. That means ......
Everyone wants cuddles with Macy (everyone that is except Helen!). She is still tiny and adorable and sweet.
I spent the day playing with paper piecing.
This months Sue Daleys "Just like a Jigsaw" paper piecing club is so much fun. Elongated hexies and squares this month and gorgeous fabrics.
After lots of playing around I decided to go with fussy cut squares and this layout. Now to turn it into a small runner.
In the mail today was this gorgeous tea towel. A fundraising venture for Donate Life (organ donation awareness). Lots of photos were taken of hearts and one of my photos made it into the heart on the towels. It is a wonderful idea and a great way to raise funds and awareness. Heaven help anyone who actually uses it to dry dishes though!!!
Hope you're having a great week!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you are all having a lovely Mother's Day today.
I have been spoilt with a lovely lunch, with my youngest son, at one of my favourite places to eat.
The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable.
I even managed dessert which looked way too pretty to eat.
Although my eldest son is still in New Zealand, I didn't miss out on some very lovely messages and photos. It was all perfect timing.
Wishing my Mum a very happy day and missing her and James especially today. Can't wait until we are all together again. Thank you so much Jack for the lovely lunch and spoiling me!! You've made my day.
My sweet smelling Rose from a thoughtful friend at work is looking even more  beautiful today.
Hope you had a special day!!!

A Lovely Week

It's been a lovely week....I hope it has been for you too!
Lots of lovely "happy mail" this week. I've joined Sue Daley's English paper piecing "Just like a jigsaw:" club and this is my first pack. Gorgeous fabrics and threads and a wonderful pattern to start with. I am really going to enjoy this!
Some wonderful "Bliss" fabrics.... sigh!!! ...that I scored in the great Australian Destash!
A wonderful Tuesday with the girls stitching to our hearts content. After a knitting question for Helen... she came out with this classic Knitting book. No date on it.... but it did cost a measly 25 cents!!! It's in perfect condition and she's even made a cute little tea cosy from it.
And talking about Helen....look at her amazing embroidery! She never ceases to amaze me with her beautiful, perfect work. Just gorgeous!
I had a wonderful day out with these wonderful ladies, (Barbara, Gail and Leona) at the Brisbane Art Gallery.
The Watercolour Exhibition is on at the moment and it is soooo good.... this is my second visit!
Many wonderful pieces to see, including these two of Scarborough and Suttons Beach, Redcliffe... where I spent much of my childhood.
And no trip to the Art Gallery is complete without a visit to my favourite painting "Monday Morning" (Vida Lahey 1912)...
Another gorgeous day in the city by the way....
Treasury Casino... impressive as always...
Lunch was wonderful at the Gallery Cafe... grilled haloumi cheese, eggplant, spinach and hummous... yum!
This is me... taken by Leona... and my "you seriously aren't taking a photo of me eating, are you?:" face!!!
Another lovely piece of fabric in the mail... and I couldn't resist this cute little twine holder from Tilda and Sarah at Patchworks Plus.
A lovely dinner with my favourite... Chicken Caesar salad...
There has been lots of sewing and crafting... but all secret stuff at the moment. Birthdays, babies and swaps!!! All to be revealed soon!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.... and "Happy Mothers Day" for tomorrow! Enjoy your day!!!
