Tuesday Stitching

Today's stitching was a nice surprise. We are up to the wreath and holly leaves part of our Christmas wreaths. At first it looked like it wasn't going to be an easy job to sew the actual wreath but after seeing how lovely Norreen's turned out, I was willing to give it another go.
So glad I did as I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Sandi's husband made us all metal "halos" for the base of the wreaths and they are so much better than the cardboard alternative.
I think we've worked out it's going to take about 17 hours just to make the holly leaves now!
They are going to look so good when they're finished and on the wreath.
Norreen had "show and tell" for us with her gorgeous Bronwyn Hayes quilt. I love it!
I received a bounty of happy mail today. It was like Christmas .... Gail Pan's new Christmas book....a new bunny pattern and kit from Hatched and Patched ( just love Anni's quirky bunnies!) ....and my Tilda swap present has arrived and waiting patiently for me to open this Friday. Cannot wait to see what Sue has made me!!!!!
And ..... This gorgeous silver quilters necklace from Lynette Anderson. It has a thimble, lucky four leaf clover charms, as well as bling pieces and pearls. I love it!!!
Then an enjoyable night home for a change. I've finished another row on my Trip Around the World quilt and watched a fabulous movie "Pride" with Jack and Tori. If you get the chance, this is a wonderful true story and definitely worth watching.
And there goes another month! And what a fabulous month March has been. A birthday that managed to last the whole month, back to back retreats in Brisbane and Nundle, Easter crafting, wonderful catch ups with family and friends and lots of sewing! Can't beat that!
Have a great week

Sunday Stitchers - March Get-Together

This month we are celebrating Easter and have our Easter Tablerunner Swap opening. Don't you love our Easter cupcakes Maree made?
The food, as always, was delicious!
Some of the girls and their tablerunners. So much work gone into these and the girls have produced gorgeous pieces.
Unfortunately my partner didn't come to today's get together - so I don't have my runner yet to show you.
We are also celebrating all the March birthdays and this officially marks my birthday as lasting the whole of the month!!! De and Inca are also March birthday girls and this is the cake De and I brought along .... Half a Bee Sting and half a chocolate, strawberry torte. And it did taste as good as it looked.
Here's our birthday fat quarters from the rest of our group. It's always a lot of fun opening these!!! It was triple the fun today!
I received so many beautiful fabrics - totally spoilt!!!!
My fat quarters for De and Inca.
The lovely Maria won our Easter raffle. It was an amazing prize made and donated by Helen.
The main prize was this beautiful doll Helen made. I sooooooo wanted to win her!!!!
There was also this box FULL of Easter goodies. A truly wonderful raffle prize! Lucky, lucky Maria!
Another great get together and stitching day. One last photo of a tablerunner. Just love this one. Susan is holding her runner made for her by De. Isn't it great? Very "Easter".

A Surprise for Sandi

Soon it is one of the Tuesday girls birthdays....Sandi! One of her suggestions for a birthday present was a rose plant and as she loves roses so much, this resulted in the rest of us hatching a "surprise road trip".
All Sandi knew was we were picking her up and.........Yep, that was all!
We ended up on Tamborine Mountain at the wonderful Birchwoods nursery that sells beautiful roses. (It has a wonderful cafe too!)
Yummy spiced fig cheesecake and a chai did not disappoint!
After looking at lots of beauties we found the perfect one......
It's actually a topiary rose bush and has been grafted to have two beautiful roses on it.  A gorgeous burgundy and a white.
However, we didn't really think it through and how we were going to fit it in Helens car. Helen is somewhere in this photo in the car!!!
It was so much fun to surprise Sandi today and I really hope she likes her early birthday present. Love days like this!

Girls Day in the Country

I have finally made it to my first ever GDITC in Nundle this year. And what a fantastic 4 days it has been. I loved every second from start to finish and I am missing all the girls, all the fun and all the laughs already!!!
Nundle was such a surprise. A very small country town but full of history and wonderful things to see and do. We made the most of every day and yet we still haven't seen it all.
The best part of the trip was meeting up with friends - some I haven't seen since last year or longer, some I saw last week in Brisbane and some I have never met before.
The friendships are definitely the best part.
Our workshop, organised by Kerry from the Cottage on the Hill, was so much fun.
The hall was set up beautifully with our goody bags waiting for us.
Our designer was the lovely Lynette Anderson and the project was a gorgeous table topper of triangle hexies and cute bunny stitcheries.
I have so many photos and precious memories from a wonderful time spent with likeminded bloggers and friends. It was a fantastic time away with you girls. Thank goodness I finally got the Nundle experience and I cannot wait to do it all again!!!!

Food, Glorious Food

Another wonderful day spent with my friend Leona.
Yummy scones for morning tea.
Leona's garden has gone crazy and I can't get over how well everything is growing.
Lots of fresh greens and tomatoes from the garden to our plates for lunch. How good does this look?
A big bowl of basil to take home so I can make fresh pesto for dinner. I just love the colour and the smell. Love days like this!

High Tea with Mum

Today was pretty special. I spent a lovely day with my Mum, Frank, Jack and Tori devouring a delicious high tea at Whisky Business.
Mum has never had a high tea and this was on her "bucket list" to do.
The macarons are always spectacular here and today we tried just about every flavour.
We had such a great day!
Lovely to have Tori and Jacks company too!

Tuesday Stitching

Today we are working on our wreaths again and the decorations today are little peppermint candies.
Sandi's show and tell. Libby Richardsons  mystery quilt. I absolutely love it.
Norreen wearing her "halo" which is actually our wreath base that Sandi's hubby made for all of us. These are going to be so much better than using cardboard.
Beautiful Macy asleep on one of Sandi's dolls! Poor doll!
I did have homework today .... But ...All 6 candies are now finished!
I've also been working on my Lynette Anderson's project from the workshop at Nundle. Love these triangles and hexies and I love the fabrics too!
