City Catchups and Shows

I had one of those days yesterday, where everything just fell into place and went perfectly. My wonderful uncle got me tickets to The Sound of Music. I decided to go into the city early and try and see James at work and maybe do a little shopping before dinner and the show.
I walked past and found James who was just about to go to lunch. Great timing! He never knows when his break will be as he works around his customers. So this gorgeous kid took me out to lunch at Brew. It was delicious!
After that I did a spot of shopping at Bed, Bath and Table. I was hoping to get a pink bunny plate (score!) but there were so many wonderful bargains, I got a few other things. I just love the button coasters!
I did a few walks back and forth over the bridge and took some photos along the way.
Caught up again with James after work for a couple of cocktails.
Very nice!!!!! Ha ha !
I left James and crossed over the river again to catch up with my uncle to see the show.....
It was fabulous. We both enjoyed it so much.
Such a great day and night. Totally exhausted and spent the long drive home  with all the Sound of Music songs in my head!

We were supposed to be stitching today, but first we did a little road trip!!!
We went to the Quilters Store where I found some great little things I couldn't live without!!!
How cute is the little charm and brooch? I'm collecting a few brooches for my Quilt Diva wall hanging and this will do nicely.
We had a nice lunch before we finally got back and settled in to the normal Tuesday routine. These are the cute little hexie bags that Sandi and I made over the Easter break. This is Narelle's pattern from the Let's Get Stitched weekend.
It's not easy to take a photo with the girls around. Someone is always trying to photo bomb the pic!!!! So mature Sandi!!!
Proof I did actually achieve some stitching today. I'm working on a Gail Pan Christmas design.
Have a great week!

Easter Sewing

Hope you are all enjoying the Easter break. I am definitely making the most of some time off work!!!!
I have another two blocks finished. "Checkerboard" and a bonus block "just for you". I am really loving this fabric range!
I got this gorgeous vintage toy rabbit pattern for my birthday from Tori.
He is almost done.  Just need to buy some wool to make his tail now and finish off his face. I have made a lot of stuffed toys over the years, but never one like this. The pattern is from the 1940's and they certainly made them differently back then. The instructions are wonderful. Somethings haven't changed though. Putting the legs and arms together, sewn through the body and held with buttons is exactly the same. I can't wait to make the pom pom tail though - I haven't made one of these since I was a kid!
I have also finished this cute little hexie bag. The pattern is by my lovely friend Narelle and it was one of the projects from Lets Get Stitched this year.
Inside there are 6 pockets as well.
I am so happy with it.
This little table runner was made for a swap I was in Easter, last year.  My partner never made her runner to give to me, so luckily I got mine back. This is the first chance I've had to use it. The little Lindt bunny was from Jack. It's hazelnut chocolate!!!! Oh yum!!!
Then there was another block to make in the Splendid Sampler Sew Along. I loved this one! "Scrap Stars" was a lot of fun to make and I was very happy with my points! (Nice change!) The other block "Simple Simon" is an earlier block and good to catch up with.
These are my 6.5" blocks so far.
I enjoyed some spicy chicken pasta and sparkling white sangria for dinner. Then watched a couple of movies with Jack. The second being "Dorian Gray" which is one of my favorite novels. It's so nice not having to work! I am enjoying this Easter!
Hope you are too!

Catch Up

I met up with Susan yesterday and enjoyed a lovely lunch and catch up. As I wasn't able to go to Nundle this year, Susan picked up my Anni Downs project kit and I am so glad I decided to still get it.
The projects are gorgeous and are in Anni's usual lovely quirky style - which I love. Lots of fabric in the kit too. The fabric at the top was extra and lucky for me, Susan knew I'd like it!!!
Cannot wait to make these projects!!!!
The postie delivered a sweet little surprise today too. Isn't she lovely? This tiny little ballerina bunny has a carved and hand painted wooden head and soft body. She is beautifully hand made and decorated in flowers and lace.
She's so tiny she's sitting in an Easter egg cup at the moment.
Have a lovely Easter!

Splendid Sewing.....

More blocks in the Splendid Sampler Sew Along.
I am using the gorgeous range Black Tie Affair by Moda for these blocks. I think they're so beautiful and classic.
This block is called "Happy Happy".
And the very first block I made.
It's been hard to keep up with being away and work, but I'm not stressing and just doing the blocks I can.
On Monday I put a couple of blocks together and started the hand stitching on Tuesday with the girls. I love the way this one turned out. It's called "Crocheted Thoughts". Stitched in chain stitch it becomes a little crochet doiley.
I couldn't wait to make this one as it is  by one of my favorite designers Amy Sinibaldi. Her designs are very cute as always. "Snug as a Bug".
Then there was this bonus block - "Easter Bunnies". I really enjoyed putting these together and I'm loving the fabric range I'm using. I am not going to stress though on keeping up, but I hope to get another couple of earlier blocks made over the Easter break.
Happy Stitching!

Easter Fun with the Tuesday Girls

Yesterday we had our get together at Sandi's house. Being the last Tuesday before Easter, Sandi had the house looking beautiful with all her gorgeous Easter decorations.
The table looked so lovely and there were lots of yummy chocolate to eat.
We had toasted hot cross buns and there was a Lindt bunny too but he didn't make it to the photo shoot!
I was supposed to bring my gorgeous mug rug that I received from Tatyana in our Easter swap but I forgot. It is taking pride of place on my dining room table at home at the moment and I'm going to blame work and lack of sleep for forgetting to bring it today. Mine is there on Sandi's iPad!!! Aren't they gorgeous? This was a fantastic swap.
We drew the names out today too for our next "No Fuss" swap. This one is going to be fun!
I managed to do a bit of stitching on my Splendid Sampler blocks but there was a lot more chatting and fun to be had.

Purchases from Tassie

I have come home with a real assortment of treasures from our trip to Hobart. These gorgeous Christmas fabrics and old vintage decoration were from Hat Creek Quilts.
While we were in Richmond, the jewellery shop gave us all a great discount and I love the Swarovski crystal earrings and bracelet. The birds just flew into my bag too.
Salamanca square had many wonderful art galleries and handmade works of art. I found a wonderful little shop that sold pieces by a number of artists. The little photo and painting are of Richmond Bridge and a sweet blue wren. They came with little handmade wooden easels. The soldier is hand carved from local sassafras wood and is beautifully hand painted with amazing detail. He reminds me of Port Arthur and the penal colony there.
There were gifts purchased too ....
Local Tasmanian fudge, cute Easter egg tins and a little handmade vase.

Easter Mug Rug Swap

The Tuesday girls first "no fuss" swap had its opening today. It was an Easter mug rug swap....
My parcel arrived from Tatyana and I couldn't wait to open it today.
I just L O V E it!!! It's so gorgeous! Thank you so much Tatyana. It has the word Easter embroidered in the middle but I think it will be used all year!
I just love the fabrics and colors.
It matches all my Easter bits and pieces and basically everything!
I made for Illene and this is the mug rug, fat quarter and "treat" I sent her.
Tilda bunny and Tilda fabrics. I hope she likes it.
This was such a fun swap and if you'd like to join us in our second "no fuss" swap, details are up now and you can find out all about it HERE
Have a great day!
